Dorcas Mothers in Zambia

Zambia – Kabwe East Mission District (KEMD) – Dorcas mothers donated blankets, pillows and fruit worth over K5 Million to Kabwe General Hospital.

The Adventist Women, affectionately known as Dorcas Mothers,  who converged at the hospital entrance for encouraging words from the Bible, read by Elder Gilbert Kalimukwa, donated 30 blankets and pillows to Ward nine (9), which they adopted in 2000.

Earlier, Dorcas Federation President, Annie Milambo said that the church was happy to be associated with the sick through donations to the ward.

Mrs Milambo explained that the Dorcas mothers have been donating cleaning materials and disinfectants to the ward every month through a well-coordinated program of the Seventh-day Adventist church local churches.  Elder Kalimukwa urged the Dorcas women to continue with their good works as the Dorcas of the Bible ministered to the needy.

And receiving the donation on behalf of the hospital, Coverage nurse, Sam Chirimuta, said the hospital was humbled by the gesture adding that the items donated will go a long way in alleviating problems arising from linen shortage in the hospitals.  He called on other organizations to emulate the SDA in trying to complement government efforts to meet several needs of society.

Meanwhile, a patient, Joseph Chiyanda Mudenda said that he was shocked to see what the SDA church was capable of doing in terms of helping out in society.

He described the donation as something that was given at the right time because it was beginning to get colder and patients needed to be kept warm.
