General Conference President presents the ‘pinnacle of success’ at Solusi graduation

Dr Ted Wilson in his commencement address at the 16th Graduation Ceremony of Solusi University, Zimbabwe where 433 leaders graduated said:” I salute this University and you and implore you to embrace Christ as your example and soon coming king.”

“I challenge you to lift up Jesus and the wonderful advent message of hope, make the Bible the foundation for all you do… Kneel at the foot of the cross… look to Jesus … grow in Christ … and remember to ‘let this mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus… Jesus is calling you to work for others.”  He urged the graduating class of 2012 to lose sight of self and personal promotion, to serve God, serve man and give God the glory through the power of His Holy Spirit.”

This is the first visit of Dr Wilson to Solusi University and he said that he will continue to pray for rain for the country of Zimbabwe.  Dr Paul Ratsara in his introduction of the Dr Wilson said God has chosen Dr Wilson to lead the Seventh-day Adventist church and affirmed the deep commitment of the members of the Seventh-day Adventist church in Zimbabwe.

The Honourable Dr John Landa Nkomo, Vice-President of the Republic of the Zimbabwe, in his welcome address said: “Solusi University is like a ‘long bridge’ and was established for the interest of the people and is still succeeding in the fulfilment of that commission.”  He further commended Solusi University for their commitment to the Holy Scriptures.

Pastor Evans Muvuti, Chancellor of the University, together with everyone, expressed appreciation and thankfulness for the way God has been leading the university in line with the theme that the graduating class decided upon: “Remember yesterday, dream for tomorrow.”

Dr Wilson further encouraged: “May God make yourself successful on his terms, in His own way and for His glory.  You are on the edge of the future, the most productive phase of your life… make maximum use of your talents and explore what is God’s definition of success.  If you want to understand what is God’s idea of success for you … walk towards Jesus.

Walk humbly before God and faithfully serve others, following God’s recipe for success.

He spoke to parents saying: “don’t forget your children when they leave home.  Maintain constant contact with them throughout and give them spiritual guidance.”  To the graduates, he said: “grow in Christ.”  He then continued “consecrate yourself to God in the morning; make this your very first work.  Let your prayer be, ‘Take me, O Lord, as wholly thine.  I lay all my plans at thy feet.  Use me today in thy service.  Abide by me, and let all my work be wrought to Thee.”  “Steps to Christ, p. 70.

Finally, he said: “Christ is the pinnacle of success – follow Him and revive your connection with Christ.”
