March 1, 2014. 93% of SDA churches in Botswana celebrate International day of Prayer
Leading up to March 1, most churches conducted a women’s week of prayer involving the whole church. Sabbath, March 1, 2014 was celebrated with churches beautifully decorated with an array of sunflowers. Sermons were conducted by the women and the afternoon was a time for special prayer sessions. Groups prayed for specific needs. Some went prayer-walking into their neighbourhoods. Some churches held all night prayer sessions. Prayer breakfasts on Sunday morning completed the programme.
We prayed for:
- Mission to Big Cities (Gaborone) Project, 28 April – 10 May 2014, Children who have abandoned their faith, Abused women and young girls, Former Adventists, The sick and elderly, The government: the President and his Cabinet, The destitute, vulnerable and orphans, Pastors and Unity in the church.
The sunflower to teach us very important lessons from God’s word. The sunflower is a tall majestic flower that can teach us many lessons from its different parts. As the sunflower lifts its head to the sun each day we are reminded to do the same by spending time in prayer with God.
We thank all the Pastors, Elders and church members for their unwavering support for Women’s Ministries initiatives.
